About All of the Above
Fronted by a duo of brothers who were born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, All of the Above is as much about family as it is about music. They describe their sound as “summer-on-a-blanket” rock; a warm, danceable blend of folk, reggae and pop-rock, with harmonies like only brothers can sing. In April 2011 they released their debut studio album, an 11-song effort simply entitled "All of the Above." The long-awaited debut comes on the heels of "Home": a double-length EP featuring live acoustic performances, previews from the self-tilted album, and the B-side 'My Home.'
Jared and Evan Cechanowicz have been playing music together nearly all their lives, and music has sculpted their relationship as brothers as much as their relationship as a band. From starting out singing in church, to being the harshest critic for each other’s side-projects (everything from jazz to country), to finally forming a band together, All of the Above’s formation was as tumultuous as brotherhood itself; but when they realized they were a born musical duo, everything started to fall into place.
After releasing their debut album in April 2011 (with help from a $10,000 grant from Rawlco Radio) All of the Above performed over 20 shows throughout the summer, including the Ness Creek Music Festival, New Music West, and the Saskatoon Fireworks Festival. Throughout the summer they shared the stage with bands like Secret Broadcast from Toronto, Broken Ride from Calgary, In Medias Res from Vancouver, and home-province favourites Wyatt, Volcanoless in Canada, and Slow Down Molasses. In other news, the long-running American television show Road Trip Nation will be featuring "Roll With It" on the first episode of their 8th season, airing in September of 2011.
Past Highlights:
'Roll With It' and 'Feather' win Honorable Mentions in the West Coast Songwriters International Songwriting Competition (May 2011).
'Feather' included on the SaskMusic 2011 promotional compilation CD. (February 2011).
'Feather' reached the short-list of the ASA Songwriting Competition in the International category (July 2010).

Friendly and unpretentious, the brothers of All of the Above are a relaxed bunch. For them, All of the Above has always been family first, band second; and that’s exactly why you can look for them to be making music together for many years to come.
